Greetings, from the Ted Hellier Laxfest Committee!
It is remarkable to think that the last time the Ted Hellier Laxfest was held was in June of, 2019 at Wainwright Fields. So much has changed since that fabulous day of lacrosse.
The Ted Hellier Lacrosse Festival is Maine's Premiere lacrosse festival, where emphasis is placed on team play, and the enjoyment of "the fastest game on two feet"!" This festival celebrates competition, sportsmanship, the spirit of lacrosse and love of the game.
The longevity of this Festival is a testament to the loyal volunteers, who repeatedly and tirelessly give their heart, time, and energy to make sure the event is a success. We are fortunate enough to have the support of an incredible network of supporters and volunteers, we are excited to be back after a 2-year break and watch Maine and New England’s amazing lacrosse players on the field. We have missed you all!
This journey is amazing, and we are so happy to have you be a part of it. Words cannot express the love and gratitude we have for all who participate in small or in big ways. Over the years it has been YOU who make this Festival such a success.
The festival started In 2013 when the “South Portland Split Tournament” was renamed the “Ted Hellier Laxfest”. It was an extremely humble moment for Ted, who soon after the 2013 tournament, lost his battle with cancer. But Oh, how happy he was to be at the very first. Over the years you have all come out in force “For the LOVE of Ted” and love of the game. Ted would be thrilled to see that so many former players have gone on to become college players, coaches, and amazing adults.
