Please say you will help! There are several shifts available! We will help you find the right shift! Volunteer Tasks include: registration table, swag table, raffle ticket table, operate a speed gun, penalty timers at fields, general help at main tent and runners, golf cart operators, morning set up and afternoon cleanup. Here's just a little information about the Ted Hellier Lacrosse Festival: The Ted Hellier Lacrosse Festival is Maine's Premiere lacrosse festival, where emphasis is placed on team play, fun and the enjoyment of "the fastest game on two feet"! In 2013 the South Portland Split Lacrosse Tournament was renamed the Ted Hellier LaxFest. It was an extremely humble moment for Ted, who soon after the 2013 tournament, lost his battle with cancer. Ted was instrumental in the developing the youth lacrosse programs and helped build South Portland lacrosse into a championship program. He was a youth coach who was passionate about the game, his players and life. He was an advocate for his boys, both on and off the field and a diehard fan. For those of you who did not know Ted, he was comfortable in his own skin and encouraged all to be their best. We continue this fun festival to honor his memory and the game he so loved. He would be thrilled to know so many of his boys have gone on to play lacrosse in college. The success of the Ted Hellier Laxfest is possible only through the generosity of volunteers that are apart of our South Portland Lacrosse Family. We appreciate the fact that YOU make this Festival! People often ask us, “How does your Booster club do this?” Our answer: “It’s because of great people who care!” A sincere heartfelt thank you to all who can volunteer. Your contribution is appreciated and valued. If you can help, please respond by May 1, 2018 to our volunteer coordinator, Kathleen Doan: [email protected] Greetings from the Ted Hellier Laxfest Committee! Although it is several months away, we are already hard at work with our sights set on another fun filled Laxfest. The 6th Annual Ted Hellier Laxfest will be held this year on June 2, 2018.
